The Electric Eels Swimming Club has now been in existence for over 40 years and in August 2003 incorporated and became a standalone entity to the Zillmere State School P & C Association.
Electric Eels Swimming Club is a non-profit organisation that does not receive financial assistance from the School or the School P & C Association. However, we are continually active in raising funds for the benefit of the club, the school and all members of the community who frequent the pool. The pool facilities were first built in 1974, and most of the pool equipment has been upgraded through the club’s fundraising efforts.
The Swim Club currently has approximately 80 active swimming members aged from 5 years to 14 years. The Club’s membership base has grown by 20% over the last 5 years, with the majority of members and prospective members generally coming from surrounding suburbs, such as Bridgeman Downs, Aspley, and Geebung.
One of our primary focuses at the club is to leverage our swimming programs to enhance the social development of children from an early age and provide them with invaluable life skills, which will benefit the community.
